Who is behind Flower Feline Sanctuary?
The founders of Flower Feline Sanctuary are a mother and daughter team with a passion for helping animals in need. Inspired by their own loving companion animals, they wanted to make a difference for felines who have limited options in life such as those who are senior, behaviorally challenged or have special needs.
After operating KittyStar Services for Cats for over 17 years in Seattle, Diane relocated her business to Camano Island. She began fostering kittens with Seattle Humane 30 years ago. After learning about the plight of feral cats and the high number of cats who are killed in shelters, Diane became convinced that the best solution is to address overpopulation through free or low-cost spay and neuter and to replicate this success in every community. She then volunteered with Feral Care and the Feral Cat Spay & Neuter Project.
Geri moved from Arizona where she volunteered for 20 years with Friends for Life and Second Chance Dog Rescue in Gilbert/East Valley. She also assisted with food and supply drives for homeless individuals living with pets and animal rescue groups in Mexico. Geri herself is experienced with TNR, having rescued cats and kittens from a local shopping mall. She also volunteered at a high volume spay/ neuter clinic. Through their combined experiences and respect for all animals, Diane and Geri set out to provide a small oasis for kitties deemed “unadoptable” that will hopefully serve to inspire others to act on behalf of animals as well.
